Ready to Play in the Dark? Come out for a Night Tour at Desert Botanical Garden
Twice a week, every Thursday and Saturday night, join the staff at Desert Botanical Garden, for Flashlight Tours starting at 7 p.m. during the months of May through August. Flashlight Tours are a sensory adventure…you’ll see, hear and feel the desert evening with its nighthawks, snakes, insects and night-blooming flowers. Did you know certain flowers bloom at night? They like the nightlife. Certain plants and animals flourish when the weather is cooler. Animals become more active, so visitors can get lucky and spot them. Flashlight tours are perfect for families and are ideal for a summer date, as well.
Desert Botanical Garden guides feature interactive stations with animals such as the desert tortoise, scorpion and gecko. A just-hatched king snake (endearingly named Prince) was found in the garden and will be on display. A laboratory-controlled environment allows visitors to see the critters close up.
This world-renowned garden has 20,000 specimens. Many of the plants were selected to help save endangered plants.
