Visit McComick-Stillman Railroad Park in Scottsdale
Located on the corner of Indian Bend Rd. and Scottsdale Rd., in the heart of Scottsdale, McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a pristine 30-acre park that has train rides, a carousel, a variety of shops, a museum, two unique playgrounds, a gazebo, and many picnic ramadas. This is a popular playground destination among Scottsdale residents and in-the-know visitors to Scottsdale looking for fun and inexpensive things to do with the kids. Park admission is free.
If you or your kids like trains, you don’t want to miss this park. On the grounds are restored railroad cars and engines, two old railway depots, model railroad layouts, and, best of all, a 5/12-scale model railroad and train that takes visitors around the park.
This model Paradise and Pacific Railroad is so wonderfully designed that Walt Disney once offered to buy it. Thankfully, it remains in Scottsdale for visitors and residents to ride and enjoy, as the train makes it way through the park’s scenic setting. Rides run every half hour during the weekdays and continuously on Saturday and Sunday. The park is open each day save Christmas and Thanksgiving. Tickets for the train are just one dollar.
A historic carousel and a general store, serving food, drinks and ice cream, and featuring souvenirs, round out the attractions. Two playgrounds—one with Southwestern motif—are also fun attractions for the kids on your Arizona vacation.
