Scottsdale WineInstead of heading to Napa for your vino, why not head to Scottsdale and then enjoy a nap-a (clever, right?) in your Scottsdale vacation home? The Scottsdale area boasts some fantastic wineries and vineyards and Fall is the perfect time to check out a wine tasting or purchase a local bottle of wine and enjoy it on your patio. Here are the best wineries in the Scottsdale area:

Callaghan Vineyards: Founded in 1990, this vineyard is known world wide for their Spanish and Mediterranean varieties.  Their wine has even been served multiple times at the White House and they are considered one of Arizona’s Treasures. During the month of November, you can sample their new red wines.

Dos Cabezas Wine Works: This family owned business has two vineyards and a winery in the heart of Sonoita (about two and a half hours outside of Phoenix). They ship out 3,000 cases of wine a year locally and to select US cities like DC so they have attracted national attention over the years. You can attend wine tastings there Thursday through Sunday.

Sonoita Vineyards: This the oldest winery in the Phoenix area and one of the best. Visit the vineyards on November 13th for St. Martin’s New Release Festival. Even if you’re not the biggest wine enthusiast, it’s still worth the trip. You can enjoy live music, dancing and horseback riding. It’s also a beautiful place for a party or wedding.

Su Vino Winery: Located in downtown Scottsdale, you don’t have to go far to enjoy great wine. Su Vino is Scottsdale’s first winery and is an extension of the winery in Texas. Take advantage of the tasting room, take a group tour or just buy a bottle of red or white to enjoy at home. They have a fantastic selection and will even create a personalized wine bottle for your next wedding.

Enjoy a glass of wine Arizona style this Fall!
