Chase FieldThis year, Phoenix has the distinct pleasure of hosting the 2011 Major League
Baseball All-Star game. The best players from the National League and the
American League will face off July 12th at Chase Field, home of the Arizona
Diamondbacks. While the All-Star game itself is the main event, there are many
lesser-known but equally exciting things happening throughout the week. If you’re lucky enough to be staying in a Westbrook vacation rental, you can check out our list of other Phoenix baseball related activities taking place during the All-Star game.

Homerun Derby. Watch major league sluggers duke it out for the title of Home
Run Derby champion. See if players can outswing Bobby Abreu, who in 2005
shattered the derby record with an astounding 41 home runs. Enjoy all the
excitement of a baseball game, but in super-condensed form. It’s all about the
homers!

Futures Game. Check out this battle: a team of top minor league prospects from
the United States and a team prospects from other parts of the world go head to
head in a full game. Everyone will be watching to see which players stand out –
especially the coaches, who need to get themselves ready for the 2011 draft.

All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game. A light-hearted game of softball
between celebrities and seasoned baseball veterans is the perfect complement
to the fast-paced intensity of the All-Star Game. Watch your favorite stars fumble
with their bats and balls in an attempt to outplay the legends!

Fanfest Wedding. New to the annual All-Star game, the Fanfest Wedding is a
special event where one baseball-loving couple wins an all-inclusive wedding
ceremony
in Phoenix. Congratulations to Joe and Dolly! This year they’ll have the
honor of being wed during the 2011 All-Star game.

During this year’s MLB All-Star game, most people will certainly be watching
the on-field action. But when it comes to Phoenix baseball, and whether you’re
a diehard fanatic or a casual channel flicker, there are plenty of other fun-filled
events happening around town. Phoenix is honored to host these great events,
and we’re excited to offer visiting fans an opportunity to experience our wonderful
city. Play ball!
