Film buffs and movie lovers are in for a treat this October. Just a few days from now, the city of Scottsdale will be hosting its 12th Annual Scottsdale Film Festival. The event, which takes place at the Harkins Shea 14 from October 5th through the 9th, is one of the most popular Scottsdale attractions every year. If you’ve been thinking about taking a trip this fall, the film festival is another great reason to visit sunny Scottsdale.
- The Films. If you love great movies, you’re in for five full days of them. The film festival is slated to show 36 films, including Oscar contenders “Abu,” “Son of Adam” and “Amnesty.” There will be 10 Arizona premieres, including the highly anticipated debut of Fred Schepisi’s “Eye of the Storm.”
- The Stars. The city of Scottsdale will play host to some of the biggest independent filmmakers in the world this month. Directors Fred Schepisi, Julio Bárcenas, Joshua Dragotta and Korinna Sehringer will all be on hand to answer questions. The stars of their films are expected to be on hand as well, including “Satan’s Angel,” the lesbian burlesque legend who is the focus of Dragotta’s biopic.
- The Deals. Though the film festival may be a high-profile event, it’s quite affordable as far as Scottsdale attractions go. Tickets will be sold individually for $10, or you can buy a package of five or 10 screenings for $45 and $90 respectively. VIP passes to the event, which include access to all films and some other perks, cost $215.
If you’re looking for a truly global film experience in the city of Scottsdale, the Scottsdale International Film Festival is the answer. Directors and stars from around the world will be there to present their films and to answer questions, and that makes this yearly event a must-see. If you want to deepen your understanding of foreign cultures while filling up your autograph book at the same time – or if you just love good movies – then we’ll see you at the Harkins Shea 14 in the first week of October!
