You’re in luck if your Valentines Day travel plans bring you to Scottsdale this year, because here you can go far beyond the typical romantic “dinner and a movie.” Sure, Scottsdale dining is pretty spectacular, but if you want to stray from the boring old routine, you’re in the right place. In Scottsdale, you can…Cactus Heart

  • Get high. No, not that kind of high – we’re talking paragliding. Whether you’re the sporty type or you just want to try something new with your boo, paragliding makes for a date that’s both adventurous and romantic. Flying high over Phoenix and taking in beautiful desert scenery like Camelback Mountain is something you won’t soon forget.

  • Dine in the desert. Candlelight dinners at restaurants are nice and all, but since your Valentines Day travel plans have brought you to Arizona, why not dine in the desert? Grab some food and candles from AJ’s, Arizona’s fanciest supermarket, and take your significant other for a picnic in one of the Scottsdale area’s beautiful desert parks. You’ll need a permit if you plan on wining as well as dining, but the $28 you’ll pay for that would only buy you two and a half drinks at a noisy, crowded restaurant anyway.

  • Take a walk on the wild side. On February 12, you can sip cocktails, eat a decadent Italian meal and make friends with all types of wild creatures at The Phoenix Zoo’s “Jungle Love” event. Unfortunately, the $80-per-couple ticket does not include Tarzan and Jane costumes.

Whether you’re at the zoo, in the sky or on the desert sand, there’s a ton of stuff to do if your Valentines Day travel plans lead you to Scottsdale. Even better, this stuff isn’t a total cliché, and it’s far from boring. Have you gone on a particularly unique V-Day date? We’d love to hear about it in the comment section.
