When you reserve your family’s luxury vacation rental in the city of Scottsdale, it’s important to have a few activities in mind that will excite the little ones. After all, a lack of careful planning can sink any trip, but disaster is nearly guaranteed if you’re caught without options while traveling with toddlers. Luckily, there are two fantastic kid-oriented museums that you can take advantage of on your Scottsdale trip. Spend an afternoon at either of these Phoenix-area attractions to keep the youngsters in your family (or those who just like to act like youngsters) happy and engaged.

The Children’s Museum of Phoenix. For the past 15 years the Children’s Museum of Phoenix has been delivering on its promise to excite the imaginations of the under-10 set with hands-on activities, puzzles and exhibits right in the heart of downtown Phoenix. The Art Studio is a safe, encouraging environment for exploring creativity, while Noodle Forest allows for sensory engagement amidst a field of suspended pool toys. The Building Big exhibit even turns the childhood tradition of fort-city of scottsdale childrens museumbuilding into an act of creative expression. In 2011, Parents Magazine named the Children’s Museum of Phoenix one of the 10 best children’s museums in America.

The Arizona Museum for Youth. Visit the city of Scottsdale and you’ll be very close to the Arizona Museum for Youth in downtown Mesa, too. When AMY was founded in 1980, it was the only children’s museum in the U.S. with a focus on fine art, and today, over 30 years later, the mission is the same. Kids can explore unique themes through a multimedia approach, and until mid-September you can bring the whole family to the “Dream On…” exhibit to see dream-inspired paintings, collages, digital art, photography and prints. There are also many opportunities for visitors to make their own dream-themed art, including dream catchers and dream journals.

Regardless of how you plan to keep your tots and tykes occupied when you visit the city of Scottsdale, make sure to pack some water, a few snacks and a camera to capture the memories. You won’t soon forget your luxury vacation rental, but the kids will want a few pics of the rocket ship they painted on their favorite Scottsdale trip.
