Are you done with crowded college bars? Have you downed shots at every smoky dive bar from Pittsburgh to Portland? Are you ultra-lounged out? If the normal bar scene bores you, then Scottsdale nightlife will be right up your alley. From chic speakeasies to shock-rock sports bars, there are plenty of interesting places to drink on your Scottsdale trip.
1. Citizen R+D. Citizen R+D is by far one of the coolest new bars to hit the Scottsdale nightlife scene, so if you want to experience it, you’ve got to get there early. No, it’s not some loud, crowded club with a line that wraps around the block – quite the opposite, actually. Citizen R&D is a speakeasy-style bar that only allows 30 patrons in per night. The setting is intimate and personalized – your mixologist will even distill gin right at your table.
2. FilmBar. Whether you’re a beer advocate, a movie buff, a music nerd or any combination thereof, FilmBar has got something for you. Drink a craft beer from their extensive list, take in an art house movie, or check out Palace, their weekly global music dance night. FilmBar also hosts awesome special events, like a “Rocky Horror” style sing-along to R. Kelly’s “Trapped in the Closet.”
3. Alice Cooperstown. If Phoenix baseball is what brings you to Arizona this spring, Alice Cooperstown is the bar for you. As you might have guessed by its name though, it’s not your average sports bar. It’s co-owned by former MLB pitcher Randy Johnson and rock legend Alice Cooper. Here you can watch nearly any sporting event imaginable while chowing down on the usual hot dogs and beer. But there’s also rock memorabilia everywhere, and the servers wear Alice Cooper-style makeup. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the Prince of Darkness himself while you’re there – he’s been known to bus tables when the staff needs a hand.
Whether you’re a cocktail connoisseur, a sports freak or a movie geek, you can be sure of one thing: Scottsdale nightlife won’t bore you. Which kind of bar is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section.
